“Always Be Prepared”

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander” (1 Peter 3:15,16).

“Grace Teaches”

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It (grace) teaches us to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good” (Titus 2:11-14).

Message summary: As recipients of God’s grace we allow it to teach us. It teaches us to “say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions”, which abound in this fallen world of which we are inhabitants. As those who seek to please the Lord we are called “to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age”. This is what grace teaches us! The question is are we learning? And, if so, are we obeying?

“Taken Up In Glory”

“And He (Jesus) led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven. And they, after worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising God” (Luke 24:50-53). “Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory” (1 Timothy 3:16).

Message summary: Today we consider the account of the Ascension found in Luke’s Gospel when He was “taken up in glory”.
