“Vessels Of Honor”

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves” (2 Corinthians 4:7). “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.  Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:20-22).

Message summary: May He work His power in each of our lives today, so that we may be vessels of honor in these, our “earthen vessels”!

“My Joy And My Crown”

“Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and my crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends” (Philippians 4:1). “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth” (3 John 1:4).

Personal note: We arrived home last night around 3:00am. The grass needs mowed and we have lots of catch-up but it is sure good to be home!

Message summary: Christian ministry should influence people for Christ on our journey here below and for all eternity. It will surely have its disappointments when people reject us or turn away from the faith. But the greatest reward comes from those who are walking in the truth!

“Watch Yourselves”

“Watch your life and doctrine closely” (1 Timothy 4:16a). “Examine yourselves” (2 Corinthians 13:5). “Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward” (2 John 1:8).

Travel note: We were in San Diego through the weekend but today plan to travel to the Palm Desert area for several days and among other things visit Joshua Tree National Park. We will return to San Diego later this week to attend our friend Marilyn’s celebration of life service on Saturday. Since we are at a different time zone than Pennsylvania and working on only one computer the message delivery times may vary, as well as the depth of our messages! Since we are in a motel this week we probably won’t post daily but depending on conditions hope to send a couple of messages out.

Message summary: Be sure to keep watching yourself.

Note: Due to travel the podcast is not prepared for this message.

“The Duty Of The Lighthouse Keeper”

“With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation’’’ (Acts 2:40). “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3).

Travel note: Today we are in San Diego.

Message summary: Today, let us faithfully discharge our duties as Lighthouse Keepers.

Travel note: Today we are in San Diego.

Message summary: Today, like Paul, we urge each reader to turn from all vain things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

“The Assurance of God’s Providence”

“During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said: ‘Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him'” (Daniel 2:19-22).

Travel note: This morning we will be traveling out to San Diego. During the time we are away from home we still hope to post several Daily Encouragement messages but probably not each weekday. See note below for the nature of our trip.

Message summary: We can have great assurance and peace when we rest in God’s providence.

“The False Commission”

“While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day” (Matthew 28:11-15).

Message summary: The soldiers could, for a price, ignore what they had experienced first hand. We can also reject what we know to be true for money, avoiding offending others or having the fear of man more than the fear of God. Let us determine to live truthfully!
