“A Fishing Story (Part 2)”

“So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called out to them, ‘Friends, haven’t you any fish?’ ‘No’, they answered. He said, ‘Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some’. When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish” (John 21:3-6).

Message summary: Let us, like the disciples in today’s story, obey the voice of the Lord when He speaks to us. Our attitude should be, “I’ll follow You anywhere, wherever You lead me, whatever it costs me, all I want is You”.

“Reducing Gear”

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1,2).

Message summary: Today we consider the importance of reducing gear!

“Because He Lives!”

“But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead” (1 Corinthians 15:20). “By Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it” (Revelation 10:6).

“Love Demonstrated”

“And when the hour was come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him” (Luke 22:14). “It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for Him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end” (John 13:1). “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Message summary: we “consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men.” The atoning death of Christ on the cross is the supreme demonstration of God’s love. “The hour” was that singular moment in space and time for which Christ, “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” had come to this world. Oswald Chambers states, “The cross is the crystallized point in history where eternity merges with time.”
