“There Is A River!”

Susquehanna River

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling places of the Most High” (Psalm 46:4). “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water’” (John 7:38).

Message summary: The full life doesn’t depend on our being young, strong, or physically healthy. No matter our physical condition our lives can be like “rivers of flowing water” as we invite the surging power of the Holy Spirit to channel through us as we exercise the spiritual gifts God has dispensed for all His people.

“A Prayer For The Anxious Heart”

2 Thessalonians 2:16,17

“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up” (Proverbs 12:25). “Say to those who have an anxious heart, ‘Be strong, fear not’” (Isaiah 35:4). “May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word” (2 Thessalonians 2:16,17).

Message summary: Today we earnestly make Paul’s prayer our prayer for all our readers, especially those whose hearts are weighed down with heavy burdens. We offer this prayer as a kind word to cheer you up, saying to those with an anxious heart, “Be strong, fear not”.

“Rich In Mercy”

“But I have trusted in Thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in Thy salvation” (Psalm 13:5). “Who is a God like You, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy” (Micah 7:18). “Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)” (Ephesians 2:3-5). “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

Message summary: Let us respond to God’s mercy by offering our life to Him. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship” (Romans 12:1).

“Being Wronged”

“Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?” (1 Corinthians 6:7). “Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done” (2 Timothy 4:14). Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord” (Romans 12:19).

Message summary: We’ve all been wronged in various ways and our response to those wrongs is a key expression of our faith.

“Blow The Trumpet!”

Joel 2:1

“Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand” (Joel 2:1). “If the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?” (1 Corinthians 14:8).

Message summary: Thank God for the remnant of those who defy the mindset of the world and fully embrace the heart, mind and soul of God’s truths and thereby follow His commands. I trust that you are among the godly remnant today! We both renew our commitment to being in the remnant today.

“Wake Up, Sleeper!”

“But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said: ‘Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’ Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise” (Ephesians 5:13-15). “So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet” (1 Thessalonians 5:6-8).

Message summary: Today as men and women who strive to understand the present times let us heed the clear Scriptural call to be alert and sober. Let’s not snooze away precious minutes, but let us wake up completely and move into action!

“Outpouring”

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit” (Joel 2:28,29).

Message summary: Since the Day of Pentecost all though the church age God has been pouring out His Spirit all through the church age and every generation and every individual young and old, needs a fresh outpouring. We are still in the “afterward”!

“Wise, Discerning and Walking In Righteousness”

Hosea 14:9

“Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them” (Hosea 14:9).

Message summary: Today we pray for us and for each reader that we will be Biblically wise, full of discernment and understanding so we can righteously walk in the ways of the Lord.

“Forgetting God”

“But I have been the Lord your God ever since you came out of Egypt. You shall acknowledge no God but Me, no Savior except Me. I cared for you in the desert, in the land of burning heat. When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me” (Hosea 13:4-6).

Note: All this week we are considering gems from the book of Hosea who prophesied to the northern kingdom just prior to its destruction by the Assyrians about 2,700 years ago.

Message summary: Today we consider the worst kind of forgetfulness, these words spoken by God that paint such a sad, ungrateful picture, “Then they forgot Me”.

“Sowing Righteousness or Wickedness”

“Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until He comes and showers righteousness on you. But you have planted wickedness, you have reaped evil, you have eaten the fruit of deception. Because you have depended on your own strength and on your many warriors” (Hosea 10:12,13).

Note: All this week we are considering gems from the Book of Hosea. Hosea prophesied to the northern kingdom just prior to its destruction by the Assyrians about 2,700 years ago. Today’s message is a bit longer than usual but we felt both texts needed consideration and study.
Message summary: Let us ask ourselves this vital question: Am I sowing righteousness or wickedness? It’s always time to seek the Lord, in every season of every year of life!
